The Pyramid reopens as a hub of culture and technology

After MVRDV's renovation, Tirana's brutalist monument is now an ensemble of colourful boxes — cafés, studios and classrooms — open to the city.

Built in 1988 and left to decay for decades, the Pyramid of Tirana has been reborn. The renovation kept the raw concrete and inserted a cluster of bright, boxy volumes that step up the slopes — places to learn, meet, and create.

Today the building hosts everything from coding classes to evening concerts. Backstage is the operations system that keeps all of it booked, matched to the right space, and running on time.

This journal is where we'll share what's happening inside: new spaces coming online, events worth your calendar, and the occasional look behind the curtain.
